Název anglicky / Title English: Atomic processes in kinetic simulations of laser plasma interaction

Osnova / Outline:

Direct numerical simulation of the interaction of an intense laser pulse with a solid target is a very complex task. Many atomic and plasma physics processes are evolving simultaneously such as the dynamics of ionization, collisions between charged particles and the development of collective electromagnetic fields. Some of these processes are already implemented in current simulation tools [1]. As part of this work, we will focus on the implementation of these and some other atomic processes into the EPOCH or Smilei kinetic simulation code. With the help of modified codes, we will study the effect of atomic processes and collisions on the interaction of laser radiation with plasma and we will focus mainly on the initial part of the interaction, in which the plasma on the surface of the target is being created and expanding from the target towards the vacuum. The research will be carried out using particle simulation on powerful computational clusters. This research also applies to current experiments on PALS and ELI Beamlines lasers. Other possible applications are related to e.g. to research of X-ray laser [2-3]
